Frequently Asked Questions

What will I be doing?

You will be invigilating the exhibition rooms. This means staying in one room or rotating around multiple rooms to make sure the artwork is safe and talking to guests about the work in that room.

How do you prepare me for invigilating/ talking about the artwork with guests?

We will have a team meeting before the exhibition opens to discuss safeguarding and the artwork in each room. Each piece will have a label placed next to it with information about the artwork provided by the artist. We will discuss any interactive pieces with you before hand.

What do I need to wear?

Whatever you're comfortable in. We will provide you with a lanyard and Hi VIZ West Vest as uniform. The mansion has underfloor heating in all the rooms and halls so will be nice and toasty so don't worry about the cold!

Do you provide food and drink?

Our events don't sell food or drink on site. We will provide a staff brew station with snacks though!

What is required of me?

A few hours of your time to invigilate the exhibition
To attend a team meeting before we open to the public - to discuss the artwork, thesis, safe guarding and other event details.

Can I put this on my CV/ ask for a referance

Yes of course. If we can help in anyway we shall!

In the future, will there be more opportunities to volunteer with West? Such as installation, curation etc

We hope so. We want to experiment with invigilators first and go from there!

When will I hear back?

Once you have submitted your application you will hear back from us shortly. We will inquire about your availability at least 4 weeks before an event. Please note this is on a first come, first served basis.
